On-call Casual Child Care Worker - Competition #42

Are you looking to work in a high energy childcare centre and provide a positive impact on military families?

The Esquimalt Military Family Resource Centre is looking for on-call child care workers to work in our programs in Colwood. This position covers various evening and occasional weekend shifts. The hours vary with some 5:30-8:30pm evening shifts and Sunday shifts, depending on the programs we offer. Personal transportation is recommended due to limited bus service.

Suitable applicants must be 19 years of age, hold valid first aid certification, and preferably have experience working with children. Previous experience working with children with behavioural challenges is an asset. You will be responsible for providing safe and appropriate care for children of all ages. A clean criminal record check is a condition of employment.

Out of School Care (Term/Casual) - Competition # 51

Are you looking to work in a high energy childcare centre and have a positive impact on military families? The Esquimalt Military Family Resource Centre is looking for a term/casual Out of School Care employee to work at our Centre in Belmont Park, Colwood. The term position from September to December is approximately 25 hours per week Monday through Friday. The required shifts are 7:00am to 9:00am and 2:00pm to 5:00pm daily. Please note that the term position will become a casual position in January. Personal transportation is recommended due to limited bus service.

This position requires at least 20 hours of childcare related education in areas such as child development, health and safety, nutrition, or guidance. Suitable applicants must also be 19 years of age, hold valid first aid certification, and have experience working with children. Previous experience working with children with behavioural challenges is an asset. You will be responsible for planning daily activities, and providing before and after school care for children. A criminal record check is a condition of employment.

ITE/ECE (Float) - Competition #54

Are you eager to work in a high-energy childcare centre where the results of your efforts translate into healthy, happy children and families?  The Esquimalt Military Family Resource Centre is currently looking for a full time ITE/ECE – Float for our Colwood Pacific Activity Centre location.  This full time position is for 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday.  As this is a float position it requires the flexibility to work between the hours of 6:30am and 5:30pm and between both the Daycare and the Out of School Care Centre.  Personal transportation is recommended due to limited bus service.

As an ITE/ECE, you love what you do, and you’re excited to plan, carry out, and evaluate developmentally appropriate activities designed to encourage learning.  You are responsible and mature—a natural nurturer with a child-centered approach and experience working with children.  Your excellent interpersonal and communication skills mean you’re at ease interacting with parents, community members, and fellow staff on a daily basis.

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • A valid ITE/ECE license to practice
  • Current First Aid Certification.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues that affect children of military families.
  • A valid driver’s license (class 4 license a plus!)
