Children’s Deployment Workshops: Parent Info Session
The MFRC has deployment workshops for children 3 to 12 years of age offered in-person and virtually. If you want more information or will be signing your children up for this series, please attend this session to meet the program facilitator. Connect with others parents experiencing a deployment this year, and learn ways to keep that child connected to the deployed parent. Both the at-home caregiver and deploying parent are welcome at this session.

Dr. Sonya Bird’s family has been going on extended wilderness adventures—mostly canoeing—since her children were infants. In this presentation, she presents some of the joys, as well as trials and tribulations, of wilderness travel with kids. The visuals included in the presentation are of the incredible places they have visited over the last 10+ years, including many spots up and down the beautiful coastline of Vancouver Island. Sonya is an Associate Professor in Linguistics at the University of Victoria.
