Early Childhood Educator (Term - 16-Month Maternity Leave) - Full-Time - Competition #67

Are you eager to work in a high-energy childcare centre where the results of your efforts translate into healthy, happy children and families? The Esquimalt Military Family Resource Centre is currently looking for an Early Childhood Educator (Term – 16-Month Maternity Leave) to work full-time (37.5 hours per week) Monday-Friday at our Colwood location with hours of operation of 6:30am-5:30pm. Personal transportation is recommended due to limited bus service.

As an early childhood educator, you love what you do, and you’re excited to plan, carry out, and evaluate developmentally appropriate activities designed to encourage learning. You’re responsible and mature—a natural nurturer with a child-centred approach and experience working with children from infants-5 years. Your excellent interpersonal and communication skills mean you’re at ease interacting with parents, community members, and fellow staff on a daily basis.

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • A valid Early Childhood Educator license to practice (Infant and Toddler certification a plus).
  • Current First Aid Certification.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues that affect children of military families.
  • A valid driver’s license (class 4 license a plus!)

We provide programs and services that serve, involve and advocate for the military community and their families; which address the unique challenges of the military family lifestyle and will result in an enhanced quality of life. Out of School Care Workers (Term) - Competition #69

Are you looking to work in a high energy childcare centre and have a positive impact on military families? The Esquimalt Military Family Resource Centre is looking for two Out of School Care workers to work at our Centre in Belmont Park, Colwood.   These are one-on-one supported care positions funded by VIHA and are between 22.5 and 27.5 hours per week Monday to Friday.  The required shifts are between 6:30am to 9:00am and 2:00pm to 5:30pm daily.  Personal transportation is recommended due to limited bus service.

This position requires at least 20 hours of childcare related education in areas such as child development, health and safety, nutrition, or guidance.  Suitable applicants must also be 19 years of age, hold valid first aid certification, and have experience working with children.  Previous experience working with children with behavioural challenges is an asset.  You will be responsible for planning daily activities, and providing before and after school care for children.  A criminal record check is a condition of employment.
