Military Parent Connections

Parenting is meaningful and brings love and growth into the life of a caregiver, and yet it can also feel overwhelming and confusing at times! Join MFRC Childcare and Family Wellness staff in a monthly parenting group where the joys and complexities of raising a military connected child will be discussed. Parenting information and tips will be shared as well as facilitated discussions about what it means to be a parent now.

Topics
September: Back to school: preparing for a “new normal” with in class and possible online school work.
October: Parenting during times of stress/transitions and deployments. What helps?
November: “Kids Have Stress Too” a focus on stress and children.
December: Parenting and children with added/special needs.

Return & Reintegration (R2MR): Parenting Session

Do you have children? Have you taken Part 1 of this series for adults? Would you like to learn how to better prepare children for the challenges of having a parent return from a deployment? This session is for you!

Return & Reintegration (R2MR): Adult Session

Military families have identified reunion as their most challenging time to manage. Having an understanding of the impact of transitioning back from a deployment to everyday life is essential for your entire family – including your returning loved one. Discover useful techniques and tips to have a successful homecoming. Please register in advance.

Park & Play

Join us at a local park and meet others from the military community.  Guided storytime will take place for the children as well as some fun in the park!  No kids? No problem!  Come meet other adults in your area.  Please bring sunscreen and water.  Registration is not required for this activity.

Growing Parents

Join us online for a fun, supportive and educational group for new and expecting parents.  Guest Speakers and topics related to pregnancy and parenting babies up to 18 months of age.  Make connections with other parents, share information and learn about community resources in this interactive facilitated group discussion.  Attend from the comfort of your own home!  This program is for military connected families who are pregnant or parenting a child up to 18 months.

 

Wellness Walks

This is a monthly mindful moment, for you. Join us for a relaxing evening walk. Children and pets are welcome. Participants are encouraged to bring a bottle of water and dress for the weather. All participants are asked to register at least 5 days in advance by calling the MFRC at 250-363-2640.
