Pizza in the Park

Experiencing a deployment? Let us provide your family a free pizza dinner outside at our local playgrounds. Adults will then have the opportunity to meet one another and share deployment tips and experiences while the children are provided a guided story time and play. Participants are encouraged to bring a bottle of water, a folding chair and dress for the weather. All participants are asked to register at least 5 days in advance by calling the MFRC at 250-363-2640.

Tutoring Support

Qualified tutors will provide students with the online support they need to be successful in their academic life. This group is available for children in Grades 6-12. Register by emailing us and you’ll be sent a link to the online tutoring session.

Pre-Deployment Briefing for HMCS Calgary

Come learn about HMCS Calgary’s upcoming deployment. This virtual briefing will include guest speakers such as AJAG, Fleet Mail Office, Medical, HR, the Commanding Officer of the ship and the MFRC. You will also learn about mailing care packages, relevant legal information, medical information, and pay and benefits.

English as a Second Language

Do you want to learn English? Do you feel the need to improve your English to better communicate with your partner? The MFRC offers courses to CAF adult family members. The classes, guided by a professional, incorporate conversation, culture, grammar and writing to facilitate your integration into your community. The class consist of an online learning component in addition to a weekly in class session with our ESL teacher.

Employment Planning Workshop

The MFRC has partnered with WorkLink to provide workshops on a variety of employment-related topics. Come learn about career planning, interview skills, the hidden job market, wage subsidies, training plus more.

Deployment Corner

A program for parents and children 18 months to 5 years that will explore all things deployment! Join us for fun crafts, games and activities to help your child adjust to a parent being away. Also a great opportunity to meet others who may be preparing for or going through a deployment as well.  Bring your favourite travel mug to pour yourself a coffee! Note: this program is not designed for child care providers bringing multiple children. Call 250-363-2640 to register.
